Student Dress Code

By Christopher Stevens

Student dress is part of the learning environment and should not be distracting. It should demonstrate the appropriate dignity with which students approach their teachers and the subjects of study. Students will be expected to maintain a neat and clean appearance.

  • Read the Parent/Student handbook for additional, essential dress code criteria.
  • Students are to arrive each day in the following attire:
    • Solid color khakis or navy slacks or shorts (NO JEANS, CARGO PANTS OR SHORTS, NO LINEN SLACKS, NO ATHLETIC SHORTS)
    • Belts are optional, but NO sagging pants will be tolerated.
    • No dresses, jeggings, or leggings allowed.
    • Shorts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee.
    • Girls may wear a solid color, khaki or navy skirt or skort (uniform style only, NO ATHLETIC SKORTS OR SKIRTS). Skirts and skorts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. Girls must wear modesty shorts under skirts.
    • ONLY solid color, COLLARED shirts–polo shirts or oxfords. No more than the top two buttons may be open on a polo shirt.
    • Outerwear may not be worn in class. Students may wear a solid color cardigan over an approved shirt.
    • ONLY closed-toed, closed-heeled shoes. Tennis shoes are allowed as long as the laces are tied tightly enough for shoes to be securely on the feet. No flip flops, crocks, house shoes or sandals allowed.
    • Shirts do not have to be tucked in; however, they must be long enough that when the arms are raised, the stomach does not show.
  • JEANS DAYS: On designated days, jeans and spirit shirts will be allowed. Jeans should follow same guidelines as pants. Spirit and dress-up day specifications will be addressed as they are issued.
  • As educators, it is not our desire to police student dress. However, the administration reserves the right to send any student home that they feel is violating the dress code policy or is inappropriately dressed. This also applies to spirit and special dress days.

PE Clothes:

  • Please write student’s name in permanent maker on the student’s gym clothes.
  • For P.E., students will wear solid black athletic shorts, solid red T-shirt or solid white T-shirt and tennis shoes.
  • P.E. shorts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee. These should be the long, “basketball” style shorts.
  • On cold weather days, the teacher will specify what is allowed.
  • The student’s P.E. grade will be affected if they are not in the appropriate P.E. attire.
