Higher State Standards Partnership Launches National Common Core Ad Campaign

Washington D.C. — Higher State Standards Partnership (HSSP) launched a national television ad campaign highlighting the teacher perspective on why Common Core State Standards are critical to student success. Partnering with the Foundation for Excellence in Education, the ads also debunk some of the myths that surround Common Core. The ad campaign will run nationally on Fox News Channel.

To ensure all students are prepared for success after high school graduation and to significantly improve American competitiveness, the nation’s governors, chief state school officials along with school teachers from around the country worked with a wide-range of experts to produce the Common Core State Standards. Common Core State Standards are a prioritized, clearly stated list of knowledge and skills a student must master in each grade level in order to be on track to succeed in college and the workplace. The standards have been adopted by 45 states and the District of Columbia. The Higher State Standards Partnership will help to educate the public about the importance of higher standards in education and help to ensure that every child in America is fully prepared for life after high school.

Additionally HSSP has launched an advocacy tool (www.thecommoncore.com) that sets the record straight on Common Core; provides background about their creation; debunks “popular” myths and provides facts in response; highlights tools and resources to learn more; and most importantly allows the user to contact state and local elected officials to offer support for the standards.

The Higher State Standards Partnership (HSSP) is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to ensuring all students are prepared for college and the workforce. HSSP is supported by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable.
